I can’t communicate well with my host family in Japanese. What should I do?

Don’t worry! Try using gestures, English, and the Japanese you’ve learned in class. You can also use translation apps such as Google Translate. If you need help, EF staff can support you.

Can I change my host family?

Yes. However, if you’re unhappy with your host family, please talk to EF staff first. We’ll discuss the situation with you and your host family to find the best solution.

I have a problem with my roommate.
 

Everyone has different cultures and habits, so it’s important to respect each other’s differences. Try talking to your roommate directly and find common ground. If you still need help, please contact EF staff.

What if I won’t be home for dinner?

Please let your host family know in advance if you won’t be home for dinner.
